Barcelona-based Desigual launches its own stores in Mexico and Canada

The Catalan fashion multinational Desigual will be strengthening its presence in the Americas over the coming months. In 2015 it will be entering new markets, with the opening of its first three stores in Mexico and three in Montreal, Canada. Its entry into the Aztec country will be made through a franchise, alongside the company El Palacio del Hierro (the Iron Palace) which owns luxury boutiques in Mexico, a market considered a “priority” by Desigual. Thanks to this cooperation, Desigual clothes will be sold in almost 30 different department stores throughout Mexico. In addition the Catalan brand will open its own boutiques in Andares in Guadalajara, Antea in Querétano and in Mexico City. Moreover, Desigual has also committed to strengthening its presence in the US before the end of 2015, with the opening of two new stores, one in Miami and the other in Las Vegas.

Barcelona (ACN).- Catalan fasion label Desigual will be strengthening its presence in the Americas, with 8 openings in Mexico, Canada and across the United States in the coming months. This includes 3 new stores in Mexico, and 3 in Montreal, Canada, planned for 2015. Its arrival in Mexico will be made through a franchise alongside the company ‘El Palacio del Hierro’ (the Iron Palace) which owns luxury boutiques throughout Mexico, a market Desigual considers “a priority” for its expansion into Latin America. The Catalan brand will open its own boutiques in Andares in Guadalajara, Antea in Querétano and in Mexico City. The three new stores will have an average of 200m2, for the sale of clothing and accessories. The agreement between ‘El Palacio del Hierro’ and Desigual also foresees the opening of 30 new stores before 2018, with contracted Mexican department stores, and the launch of an online shop from April. ‘El Palacio del Herro’ was founded in 1888 and belongs to the Bal Group, which owns 13 stores in Mexico. Until now, the Catalan brand has been available in the Aztec country through its presence in multi-brand stores or online sales platforms, but they did not have their own shops. Desigual also foresees the opening of 2 new stores in United States, in Miami and Las Vegas.

While even further to the north, Montreal in Canada will soon be home to its first three of the firm’s own stores, one of which will be located in the shopping mall Carrefour Laval. In this way, Desigual is committed to asserting its presence in the country, in which it arrived in July through its online sales platform, which has already received over 85,000 visits since it was first launched.

Two new stores in the US

Another “priority” market for Barcelona-based Desigual is the United States, where it plans to open two new stores by the end of 2015. One of these will be in the iconic shopping mall on the Lincoln Road in Miami, and the other will be located in Las Vegas.

According to statement released by the company, its new shops in Mexico and Canada “keep the style of the fashion brand” which aims to reflect the concept that “life is cool” and through this spread “their joy and optimism”.

Currently, Desigual is to be found in 109 countries and has 475 stores. In addition, its clothes are present in 11,000 multi-brand shops and 2,500 outlets in department stores.
