Neymar signs contract with FC Barcelona, set to stay through 2018

56,500 Barça fans came to the Camp Nou to welcome Neymar to FC Barcelona. "Barça are more than a club and a great team and I want to help Leo Messi to continue to be the greatest player in the world," he said. Neymar da Silva Junior signed his contract with FC Barcelona on Monday afternoon. He will be a Barça player through the 2017/18 season. The signing ceremony took place at thye club’s offices in the Catalan capital. The player, Barça President Sandro Rosell, Vice President Josep Maria Bartomeu and the Football Director Andoni Zubizarreta were all in attendance.

Rafael Nadal wins the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell defeating Nicolás Almagro (6-4, 6-3) in an all-Spanish final

Nadal has won the 61st Conde de Godó Trophy in front of his home crowd in the Reial Club de Tennis Barcelona for the eighth time. Despite a poor start, the Mallorcan beat Nicolás Almagro in two sets: 6-4, 6-3 in an hour and 32 minutes. The tournament was conditioned by the rain during the whole week and the final itself was almost suspended. Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares won in the doubles final against Robert Lindstedt and Daniel Nestor. It’s the eighth time that Nadal has won the Conde de Godó Trophy, an ATP World Series 500 tournament.

FC Barcelona President Sandro Rosell: "I intend to stand for re-election"

The President of FC Barcelona, Sandro, has announced at a meeting of the club’s Senate that he intends to stand again for the Barça presidency in elections scheduled for 2016. “My intention is to stand for re-election and ask the members to keep their confidence in my ability to deal with the challenges we have set ourselves”, he said. “We are readdressing the financial situation”, Rosell emphasised. In addition, he also explained that “the objective is to reach the end of this mandate with a debt of around 200 million, a sustainable figure”.

Barça player Isaac Cuenca to join Ajax on loan through June 30

The Catalan forward will play for the Dutch team until the end of the current season. Ajax does not have the option to buy the player once the loan period expires. Formed in FC Barcelona’s youth system, Cuenca’s breakout year was the 2010/11 season, when he played a decisive role in Sabadell’s promotion-winning season from Segunda B to Segunda A. The following season he returned to Pep Guardiola’s Barça, where he enjoyed first team action and featured in 30 games for the senior side. However, he was seriously injured at the end of last season and he was not was given the green light to return to competitive play since 10 days ago.
