The second debate and vote on the presidential bid of Esquerra's Pere Aragonès began on Tuesday at 10 am, although it is expected to fail like the first one, which took place last Friday.

Junts per Catalunya will prevent his hopes again after announcing they will not change their stance and will abstain.

Both current coalition partners have been negotiating ever since the last election, held in February, but the only major outcome so far was granting Junts' Laura Borràs the post of parliament speaker.

Her election as Catalonia's second authority seemed to pave the way for a deal on a shared cabinet, but so far the final deal has not yet been reached.
