Ten more countries added to Spain’s compulsory quarantine list

From March 8 and until March 21, people travelling from even more places will be made to complete a 10-day isolation period to prevent the spread of Covid-19 - or 7 days if after that period a negative PCR or antigen test is presented. 

Passengers from South Africa and Brazil have faced quarantine upon landing in Spain since 22nd February. The list now also includes the countries Peru, Colombia, Botswana, the Comoros, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. These areas are seen as now being severely affected by the pandemic. 

Travel restrictions with the UK are also still in place until 6pm on March 16 with the possibility of facing yet another extension. The suspension of travel between the UK and Spain came into place on December 22, 2020 to reduce the spread of the British variant, which now allegedly makes up 60% of Covid-19 cases in Catalonia.

Land borders closed

Catalonia's land borders remain shut, with exceptions for health emergencies, commuting to and from work or school, and to take care of dependent relatives.

Overland travelers to France must present a negative PCR test to enter the country, with exceptions for cross-border workers and residents of border areas.

Travel restrictions are also in place on the land border between Spain and Portugal until March 16 at least.

PCR tests for international arrivals

Passengers from areas deemed to be high risk will also need to present a negative PCR test taken 72 hours before arrival in Spain.
