Primavera Sound has been delayed until August 26-30.

Like the vast majority of the top cultural events expected in Catalonia in the coming weeks and months, Barcelona's iconic music festival has been affected by the covid-19 crisis.

On Saturday morning, the organization announced that the event, due to be held between June 3 and June 7, will take place between August 26 and August 30 in the same venue, Parc del Fòrum.

"We are obliged to postpone the upcoming edition of Primavera Sound for force majeure causes known by everybody," read a statement by organizers.

"Our priority has always been guaranteeing the security of our audience, artists, and everyone involved in the festival."

The tickets already bought for the festival in June will still be valid in August.

Primavera Sound joined a network of European festivals pledging to hold this summer's editions in spite of the public health emergency due to the coronavirus crisis, stressing that they are a "crucial" part of the survival of the industry.

Some of the artists already confirmed for the 20th edition of Primavera Sound between June 3-7 included the likes of Tyler, The Creator, Lana del Rey, The Strokes, Massive Attack, BROCKHAMPTON, Caribou, The National, Beck, and Iggy Pop.
