More than two million people in Catalonia are now fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

A total of 2,012,019 residents, 25.7% of the population, have received the required vaccine dosage for immunization, according to data released on Saturday morning by Catalonia's Public Health body.

The figure includes people who have received two doses of the Moderna, Pfizer, or AstraZeneca vaccines, or one dose of one of those brands having previously recovered from coronavirus, as well as those who have received one dose of the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

After a sluggish start, the vaccine rollout in Catalonia is progressing well, with over 5 million jabs now administered.

Over 100,000 daily jabs

On Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of this week, more than 100,000 jabs were administered in a single day, a barrier that had only been broken on two previous occasions, April 14 and April 30.

This week, the vaccination program was opened up to people aged 40-45, meaning anyone over 40 can now book an appointment.

As of June 11, 2021, 3,292,199 residents have been given the first dose of the vaccine, 42% of the total population. 1,876,770 have also been administered a second dose (24% of the total population).
