Barcelona to host the most important fishing and seafood trade fair in southern Europe

From October 15th to 17th, Barcelona will host Seafood, the largest show in southern Europe in the field of marketing fishing products. In its first edition, the show will feature nearly 300 exhibitors, 40% of them international, as well as many representatives of exhibiting companies and processors of seafood.

Barcelona (ACN) – From October 15th to 17th, Barcelona will host Seafood, the most important trade fair in the field of marketing of fishing products in southern Europe. The first edition of the show will feature nearly 300 exhibitors, 40% of them international. The show in Barcelona will be a replica of the world's largest fair in the sector, the European Seafood Exposition held annually in Brussels. The fair in Barcelona was made possible by an agreement between the American group Diversified and the organisers of Alimentària, one of the most important food trade fairs, which is held in Barcelona.

 


The show will have an annual periodicity. This first edition will feature 12,000 square meters of exhibition space, including 300 exhibitors from 20 different countries, and visitors will be visit the full range of related fisheries. In this way, the most complete range of fresh canned, frozen and processed seafood, as well as additional services for processing, storage and logistics will be exhibited.

The show in Barcelona joins similar and successful events such as Asian Seafood Exposition in Hong Kong and International Boston Seafood Show in United States, all organised by Diversified Business Communications Group.

The presentation of the new show was attended by the Catalan Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, Food and Environment, Josep Maria Pelegrí, and the deputy managing Director of Alimentària Exhibitions, Josep Antoni Valls. This company has an agreement with the American Diversified Business Communications, which has made the exhibition in Barcelona possible after 12 years of negotiations.

Bet for the Barcelona brand 

According to the Catalan Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, Food and Environment, Josep Maria Pelegrí, with this new show "Barcelona will become a world leader in the field of food industry". He recalled that this sector is "strategic" for the Catalan economy. In this sense, Pelegrí stressed that Barcelona is still working to strengthen its position as a "capital" of southern Europe.

On the other hand, Josep Antoni Valls explained the importance of the brand Barcelona for attracting major events like the Seafood. At this point, Valls reminded that despite the economic crisis, the Catalan capital remains an attractive destination for doing business.
