Fridays for Future Barcelona has planned a sit-in to call for fairer and more sustainable labor practices coinciding with the Global Day of Climate Action on September 25.

Set to take place at the Catalan capital's Passeig de Gràcia avenue, up to 500 people will be allowed to sign up to participate in the protest that will be held respecting Covid-19 health and safety measures. All participants will be required to keep safe distances from one another, wear face masks, and wash their hands with hand sanitizer.

The sit-in will be comprised of four different sections representing the climate activist group's demands and where protesters will sit according to their background: a dignified future, for younger generations and migrants; decent work, for unions and workers' groups; dignified life, for environmental groups, and others; and climate justice, for the general population.

According to the organizers, changing current labor practices, which "are closely associated with precariousness, inequality, and land destruction," is necessary to overcome the current crises.
