The High Court of Catalonia has permitted cinemas, gyms, and sports facilities in areas with health restrictions to re-open, provided that they comply with the health measures indicated by the Civil Protection.

However, nightclubs will remain closed for the time being, while the limits placed on bars and restaurants will also stay in place.

The areas affected by the restrictions are the Barcelona area, La Noguera, El Segrià, and Alt Empordà.

The court has not fully suspended the resolution which saw the closure of the establishments, but rather cautiously admit the reopening while the merits of the matter are resolved, provided that the businesses comply with the sanitary protocol.

Cultural and sports venues were closed for two weeks beginning on July 18 under the new restrictions imposed to some 3 million Catalans living in the Barcelona, Lleida, and Figueres areas.
