The local Barcelona government will limit entry to some of the city's main public facilities, including cultural centers, libraries, and sports centers.

This was announced by mayor Ada Colau early afternoon on Wednesday, shortly after the Catalan government confirmed it was enhancing measures against coronavirus and moving from a "containment" to "alert" phase.

The Catalan capital will temporarily close all 58 senior citizens centers for 15 days and the local council will also slow down its activity in the coming days.

Mayor Colau has also asked everyone in Barcelona to slow down their pace to prevent further spread of the disease.
