'The Secret Agent' movie frustrates Golden Globe race for 'Sirât' and wins Best Non-English Motion Picture
Catalan co-production lost Best Original Score to 'Sinners'

The Catalan co-production 'Sirât' ended its Golden Globe race empty-handed in the early hours of Monday. The Brazilian movie 'The Secret Agent' won the Best Motion Picture - Non-English category, while the American movie 'Sinners' took home the Best Original Score trophy.
'Sirât' was competing in both categories but did not take home the prestigious accolade.
The movie was directed by Óliver Laxe, born in Paris to Galician parents, and studied at Barcelona's Pompeu Fabra University, and its main actor is Sergi López.
The Golden Globes, often considered a precursor to the Oscars, are awarded by around 500 members from 90 countries
Despite finishing the Golden Globes race without any accolades, 'Sirât' is shortlisted for five Oscars: international feature, sound, cinematography, casting, and original score.
For Best Original Score at the Golden Globes, Kangding Ray, the artist behind 'Sirât’s' soundtrack, was competing head-to-head with composers from 'Frankenstein,' Ludwig Göransson for 'Sinners,' 'One Battle After Another,' 'Hamnet,' and the acclaimed Hans Zimmer for 'F1.'
The soundtrack plays a central role in the film. The premise is simple: a man journeys into the desert with his son in search of his lost daughter, navigating a world of raves.
The immersive techno soundtrack, combined with the film’s visuals, plays a significant role in shaping the atmosphere.
'Sirât', already honored with the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, has also received five nominations at the European Film Awards.
Ahead of the Golden Globes, 'Sirât' received two BAFTA nominations for Best Film Not in English and Best Casting.
