Oliver Laxe's 'Sirât' shortlisted for five Oscars
Catalan co-production in running for international feature, sound, cinematography, casting, and original score awards

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has shortlisted the Catalan co-production 'Sirât', directed by Oliver Laxe, in five categories for the 98th Oscars: Best International Feature Film, Sound, Cinematography, Casting, and Original Score.
Spain's official submission in the Best International Feature Film race, 'Sirât' joins 14 other films from around the world in that category, including Joachim Trier's 'Sentimental Value' (Norway) and Jafar Panahi's 'It Was Just an Accident' (France).
Academy members will vote on the shortlisted films, with the final Oscar nominations announced on January 22, 2026.
Earlier this month, 'Sirât' received two Golden Globe nominations: Best Non-English Language Film and Best Original Score.
'Sirât', already honored with the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, has also received five nominations at the European Film Awards.
On Tuesday, it was also announced that 'Sirât' has received 12 Gaudí Award nominations from the Catalan Film Academy, making it the second-most nominated film after Carla Simón's 'Romería,' which leads with 13.
The film, starring Sergi López and released in cinemas last June, tells the journey of a father and his son to find their daughter at a rave in the Moroccan mountains.
