'Sirât' received on Monday two Golden Globe nominations: Best Non-English Language Film and Best Original Score.

With this announcement, the Catalan co-production by Spanish-French filmmaker Oliver Laxe gains momentum ahead of the Oscars, where it will represent Spain.

The Golden Globes, often considered a precursor to the Oscars, are awarded by around 500 members from 90 countries and will be presented on January 11.

In the Best Non-English Language Film category, Laxe’s bold and radical work will compete against 'It Was Just an Accident,' 'No Other Choice,' 'The Secret Agent,' 'Sentimental Value,' and 'The Voice of Hind Rajab.'

For Best Original Score, Kangding Ray, the artist behind 'Sirât’s' soundtrack, will go head-to-head with composers from 'Frankenstein,' 'Sinners,' 'One Battle After Another,' 'Hamnet,' and the acclaimed Hans Zimmer for 'F1.'

The soundtrack plays a central role in the film. The premise is simple: a man journeys into the desert with his son in search of his lost daughter, navigating a world of raves.

The immersive techno soundtrack, combined with the film’s visuals, plays a significant role in shaping the atmosphere.

'Sirât', already honored with the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, has also received five nominations at the European Film Awards.
