Barcelona is a culturally diverse city with residents from all over the world. There are around 350,000 foreigners living in the Catalan capital, all of which have access to all kinds of literature thanks to the over 320 local and foreign-language bookstores across the city.

The vast majority of these stores are located in Barcelona’s wealthiest neighborhoods, but other districts, such as Ciutat Vella, are also home to several. Many also have cafes to enjoy a read after buying a book, and while some have been open for decades, others are new and sell books in many different languages too

Barcelona in particular is home to some of Catalonia’s most important international bookstores. Come In, in the Eixample, has a vast collection of English books, textbooks to learn the language, cookbooks, and children’s literature.

For those who love French, Jaimes also in Eixample is the place to go for its novels and language textbooks

Want to read in Italian? Barcelona’s got that covered with La Piccola, in Sarrià. Buyers will be able to find not only Italian books, but also Catalan and Spanish translations. Another Italian-language option is Le Nuvole, in Gràcia, with hundreds of books.

While all these stores sell new books, Hibernian, in Gràcia, also has second-hand ones, and even gives store credit for old books giving them a new opportunity to be enjoyed again.
