Sales abroad from Catalonia fell again in September as the economic crisis provoked by Covid-19 continues to damage the economy.

Exports were down 5.5% in September compared to the same month last year, amounting to €5.818 billion, according to the latest figures provided by the ministry of industry, trade and tourism on Thursday.

In a year marked by the pandemic, Catalonia has exported products worth €47.367 billion since January, 14.1% less than the same period last year.

However, the decline is increasingly moderate - by August, exports had fallen by 15.2%. Catalonia hasn’t lost any export share and continues to represent 25% of exports from Spain as a whole.

On the other hand, imports fell by 16.7% in September, to €6.645 billion, while counting the whole year they fell by 21.8%, to €55 billion.
