FC Barcelona to hold new presidential election March 15
Joan Laporta expected to be favourite to retain presidency with club top of La Liga and amid Camp Nou return

FC Barcelona have announced that the club's next presidential election will be held on March 15.
In the coming days the full official election call will be published, which will include the calendar and all the details of the electoral process.
The date of a Barça presidential election usually coincides with a home match to facilitate matchgoing members to cast their ballots in person, and this year's will be no different.
The vote will take place on the same weekend as the blaugrana take on Sevilla in their Camp Nou home stadium.
Joan Laporta began his second stint as FC Barcelona president in 2021, taking over from Josep Maria Bartomeu, who resigned amid mounting pressure and criticism.
Since returning, Laporta has overseen a difficult period in Barça's history, with the need to stabilize the club financially and renovate the Camp Nou stadium.
The blaugrana played for around 2.5 years in the Olympic Stadium in Montjuïc before finally returning to Camp Nou in November 2025. The return to their home stadium, in particular, will go a long way to securing the club's future financially.
As of yet it is not know who will run against incumbent Laporta for the presidential seat, but it's expected that Víctor Font, who garnered nearly 30% of the vote in 2021, will run again.
Elsewhere, Xavi Vilajoana, a former Barça player and director, is also expected to stand for election.
