The final of the Copa Catalunya between UE Sant Andreu and Vilafranca will be played on Wednesday, May 1, with a kick-off time of 17:00.

The Estadi Municipal de L’Hospitalet will be the venue for the final, as agreed by both teams and the Catalan Football Federation in a meeting this week.

May 1 is a public holiday, International Workers’ Day, and as such entrance to the final will be free for spectators, with the aim of attracting a large crowd and creating a great atmosphere.

Catalan public television station TV3 will also be broadcasting the game live.

With UE Sant Andreu and Vilafranca reaching the final, it will be a cup final of two underdogs battling it out for the glory, as both teams play in the Tercera Division (fourth tier) of Spanish football, and competed in this cup competition with Catalan teams from as high as the second tier of the Spanish game.

In the semifinal round, Sant Andreu defeated Espanyol B, while Vilafranca saw off second-division Gimnàstic de Tarragona 3-0 on penalties.

On their way to the final, Sant Andreu also beat FC Barcelona’s B team, who were relegated from the second highest level of Spanish football just last season.
