Thousands of people have gone to cemeteries throughout Catalonia to honor their loved ones for All Saint's Day.

All nine of Barcelona's cemeteries registered a higher than usual number of visitors on Friday - 13,000 by 11 am - as many have taken advantage of the holiday to place flowers on the graves of their deceased friends and family members.

In the case of Barcelona's Montjuïc cemetery, one of the city's largest burial sites located on the eponymous mountain, it saw a continuous flow of visitors arriving in buses and cars throughout the morning and early afternoon.

According to Miquel Trepat, managing director of Ceminitiris de Barcelona, "Families come in bulk, and we can see various generations coming. Throughout the year, cemetery visits are usually more solitary."
