Barcelona (ACN).- Lleida and Sant Cugat del Vallès, a residential city next to Barcelona, will become ‘Smart cities’ if the pilot project is successful. Abertis Telecom, the communications branch of the Catalan infrastructure giant, and Indra, a top information technology company, will work together to develop and push for ‘smart cities’. This strategic and pioneering objective aims at improving the efficiency of local administrations, enabling them to save money and offer a better service to citizens. The project will bring technological solutions to concrete urban problems. It also includes a Reference Centre in this field, which will make these solutions available, not only to Lleida and Sant Cugat, but to the rest of Catalonia.
