Hundreds of people staged a sit-down protest in Barcelona this Friday evening as part of Fridays for Future's call for fairer and more sustainable labor practices, to coincide with a Global Day of Climate Action.

Held on the Catalan capital's Passeig de Gràcia avenue, a maximum of 500 people were allowed to sign up to participate in the protest in order to respect Covid-19 health and safety measures. Participants were required to keep safe distances from one another, wear face masks, and wash their hands with hand sanitizer.

The sit-in was comprised of four different sections representing the climate activist group's demands: a dignified future, for younger generations and migrants; decent work, for unions and workers' groups; dignified life, for environmental groups, and others; and climate justice, for the general population.

According to the organizers, changing current labor practices, which "are closely associated with precariousness, inequality, and land destruction," is necessary to overcome the current crises.
