The Catalan government has reimposed tougher coronavirus restrictions in Girona following a surge in infections, urging people to avoid non-essential social interactions for the coming two weeks.

Authorities have announced a 50% capacity limit for bars and restaurants, both indoors and outdoors, for Northern Catalonia’s largest city and the surrounding town of Salt. Sitting at the bar will also be forbidden.

For ceremonies such as weddings and funerals, health officials have set the limit at one-third of the maximum capacity.
