A vehicle drove into the main square of Plaça de Vila in the central Catalan town of Vic and ran over part of the yellow crosses that had been placed in the space on Saturday July 21 in an installation in solidarity with incarcerated and exiled Catalan leaders. The events took place on Sunday July 22 at noon.

The installation was organized by a group under the moniker ‘Som República,’ or ‘We are the Republic.’ In total, some 2,500 crosses were placed to cover the whole square. The initiative had the objective to gathering funds in solidarity with the jailed Catalan leaders, and was going to be taken down on late Sunday.
