The speaker of the Faroese parliament, Páll á Reynatúgvu, expressed sorrow that his Catalan former counterpart, Carme Forcadell, is in pre-trial prison. “It’s terribly harmful and dreadful,” he said, that Forcadell is jailed, a woman he described as “very wise” and “democratically-based.”

“Hopefully, I’ll have the opportunity to go to Catalonia and meet her in jail,” said Reynatúgvu. “And, of course, we’ll do whatever we can do to have her released,” he added. This, he explained to the Catalan News Agency (ACN) following a meeting with former Catalan president Carles Puigdemont, would be done through applying pressure internationally.

Puigdemont comments on Calvo’s statements

Meanwhile, former Catalan president Carles Puigdemont – visiting the islands and having met the parliament speaker and various other officials – addressed comments made by the Spanish vice president regards the Scottish referendum.

Puigdemont expressed a lack of “surprise” that “those who said there was no referendum on October 1 [in Catalonia] now say there was no referendum in Scotland,” adding that “they don't see referendums anywhere!”
