Catalan delegations celebrated 2023 Catalonia's National Day by organizing over 20 activities in 15 different countries and 18 cities, including, for the first time, one on the Arctic Circle.

Most of the events are musical or gastronomical, but also dances, exhibitions, debates, and a performance by Paris' Castellers human towers. The goal of 'La Diada,' as it is known in Catalan, is to "have a joyful day, allowing to share the Catalan language and culture across the globe," the foreign ministry shared in a statement.

Catalonia's National Day "let Catalans make our voices heard in the world, as a society, as culture, and as a territory," Meritxell Serret, the foreign minister, said in a video statement addressed to all Catalans residing abroad.

In Mexico, the celebration of 'La Diada' saw a large dinner with music and institutions and the diplomatic delegation as guests. Similar to Zagreb's event, where the Catalan music group Ginestà performed for attendees.

For the first time ever, 'La Diada' also took place in the Arctic Circle as the delegation in the Nordic Countries and the Baltic States organized an event in the Norwegian city of Tromsø.

The Catalan delegation in the North of Africa also had scheduled some events in Morocco, but the Catalan and Moroccan poesy reading in Rabat was canceled following the earthquake in the country, which has left over 2,400 victims and more than 2,000 injured.
