The Catalan Agriculture minister, Meritxell Serret, now in Brussels after being deposed, asked whether Spain will end its “repression” in Catalonia after the elections. “We ask those who are promoting Article 155: What do they plan to do? Will they ignore a majority of citizens who democratically ask to carry out a political project?” Serret inquired, referring to a potential pro-independence majority in the December 21 vote. In an interview with the Catalan News Agency (ACN), she also branded the Spanish measures against the Catalan self-rule as “false democracy.”
