Catalan Trial - Official in charge of Catalan interior ministry during direct rule testifies
Juan Antonio Puigserver will be followed by Diego Pérez de los Cobos, former Spanish Guardia Civil police head
The former official in charge of the Catalan home affairs department during the period of direct rule, Juan Antonio Puigserver, gave testimony in the Catalan trial on Tuesday at 4pm.
The former head of Spanish police, Diego Pérez de los Cobos, will be the next to testify in the Catalan Trial in Tuesday's afternoon session.
He is expected to be questioned over his role in the Spanish police crackdown on the referendum in 2017.
In last week’s trial sessions, various former Spanish government members including former president Mariano Rajoy, his vice president Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría, and the then-interior minister Juan Ignacio Zoido denied any implication in police operations on the day of the vote, placing spotlight on Diego Pérez de los Cobos.
In this morning’s session, the court heard from Enric Millo, the Spanish government delegate in Catalonia during the peak of the crisis, and Neus Munté, the former Catalan cabinet spokesperson.
