FC Barcelona closes a strategic investment to expand its training grounds and Masia facilities in Sant Joan Despí

The acquisition of a parcel of land adjacent to Barça’s facilities in Sant Joan Despí (Greater Barcelona) will see the club’s training facilities, the ‘Ciutat Esportiva’ increase its size by 20%. FC Barcelona have bought a 26,811 m² estate immediately next to its current Masia and training fields, where Messi, Neymar, Iniesta and all the other Barça stars train on a regular basis. Currently, the parcel of land holds the tennis club ‘El Forn’. The cost of the acquisition amounts to €8,270,000, plus VAT, and it will be paid over a five-year period. FC Barcelona’s Director for the Economic and Strategic Area, Jordi Moix, will hold a press conference in the next few days to outline and explain the club’s purchase of the land.

Barcelona (FCB).- FC Barcelona announced a strategic investment last Monday. The Catalan club signed a private purchase agreement for a 26,811 m² estate in Sant Joan Despí, a parcel of land adjacent to Barça’s Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. The acquisition will enable FC Barcelona to increase the size of its Masia and training facilities by 20%. Barça’s football school (called La Masia) and training grounds, where Messi, Neymar, Iniesta, and all the other Barça stars play everyday are located in Sant Joan Despí’s Ciutat Esportiva The purchased parcel of land currently holds the tennis club ‘El Forn.’ The cost of the acquisition amounts to 8,270,000 euros, plus VAT, and it will be paid over a five-year period.


The integration of the new estate into the current grounds of the Ciutat Esportiva will see the facility increase its size by 20%, resulting in a total of 129,308 m². It will allow FC Barcelona to start the Modification of the Metropolitan General Plan, which aims at reorganising, expanding and consolidating the current Ciutat Esportiva.

The athletic installations of ‘Tenis El Forn’ will continue being operational for the next two years.

In the next few days, Director for the Economic and Strategic Area Jordi Moix, will hold a press conference to outline and explain the Club’s purchase of the land.
