Barcelona International Boat Show expects 50,000 visitors

From the 14th to the 18th of October, Barcelona will host a new edition of the International Boat Show. 260 exhibitors from all over the world will present their wares in sports and recreational boats, distributed throughout the 50,000-square metre exhibition, with the biggest being displayed afloat and the floor hosting smaller boats and components. The Fair's President, Luis Conde, forecasts a "spectacular edition" this year, as the nautical sector "is recovering, in line with the rest of the economy". In fact, the number of boats registered this year has increased by 10%. According to Conde, the Barcelona International Boat Show "is the main platform of the nautical sector in Spain" and a must in any boat lover's agenda.

Barcelona (CNA).- From luxurious motorboat cruisers to the newest devices for recreational fishing, there are some 80 new boats and 50 innovative accessories exhibited at the Barcelona International Boat Show. From the 14th to the 18th of October, the Catalan capital will host a new edition of the nautical fair, which occupies 50,000 square metres and expects to host more than 50,000 visitors. According to the Fair's President, Luis Conde, the Barcelona International Boat Show "is the main platform of the nautical sector in Spain" and a must in any boat lover's agenda. Conde forecasts a "spectacular edition" this year, as the nautical sector "is recovering, in line with the rest of the economy". In fact, the number of boats registered this year has increased by 10%.


The Barcelona International Boat Show opened its doors this Wednesday with all eyes focused on the recovery of the nautical sector. More than 260 exhibitors from all over the world are presenting their wares in sports and recreational boats. Amongst the new models this year, there is the Monte Carlo 6, a luxurious motorboat cruiser, the Italian-designed Alzimut Atlantis 43 and the innovative Sunseeker Predator 57. Regarding Mediterranean-style traditional boats, stands out the Sasga Minorchino 34, a sailboat which is a candidate for this year’s Best European Motorboat award. The bigger boats, those over 8 metres in length, are displayed afloat in 'Moll de la Fusta' and 'Moll d'Espanya', in Barcelona. The smaller boats and the accessories, such as trailers, sails and electronic devices, can be found on the dock. 

The nautical fair will also host a wide programme of conferences oriented toward professionals, such as the first edition of the Nautical Tourism Market Place, organised by the Spanish Association of Nautical Stations.  

A recovering sector

The Barcelona International Boat Show's President, Luis Conde, described the fair as an "excellent commercial showcase" and assured that it is "the main platform of the nautical sector in Spain". "This year exhibitors have more space" stated the director of the nautical fair and added that there are "new firms and a bigger offering" in this edition. Conde forecast a "spectacular edition" this year, as the nautical sector "is recovering, in line with the rest of the economy". Indeed, the number of boats registered this year has increased by 10%. According to the Spanish Association of Nautical Companies' general secretary Carles Sanlorenzo, "this is the second nautical season in a row with positive figures, a situation that hasn't been seen since 2007". "We hope this positive trend will also be reflected in the fair's results" he added.
