Manresa (ACN).- The 15th edition of the Fira Mediterrània of Manresa has been presented this Wednesday. This international trade fair for music, dance and theatre professionals, focusing on cultural expressions rooted in the Mediterranean shores’ traditions, is held each year in early November in the city of Manresa, in central Catalonia. The next edition will be held between November 8th and 11th and will display more than 250 shows offered by 104 groups. Some of this edition’s highlights are the Israeli singer Noa, who will perform together with the Napolitan ensemble String Quarter, and the Catalan Sardana orchestra, Copla Sant Jordi, who will play together with the Flamenco guitarist Niño Josele. The fair will also have a space exclusively devoted to professionals, called the ‘Mediterrania Professional Meeting’, where specialised conference, workshops or networking events will be organised.

Of the 250 shows, 31 will be premieres, at Catalan, Spanish or world level. In addition, 5 new albums will be presented. The fair will start with a show by the dancer Andrés Martín, with his Flamenco show called ‘Tuétano’. It combines Flamenco dance and music with circus. The Catalan circus professional Jordi Aspa will be performing, as well as the singer La Macanita and the dancer Concha Vargas.

In addition, the Catalan film-maker Isaki Lacuesta will be one if this edition’s guests, and five shows will be inspired by his work, under the overarching title ‘El traspàs intergeneracional’ (The intergenerational transfer). Lacuesta will be in charge of the fair’s closing show, fusing theatre and large format audiovisuals, based on the Catalan medieval tradition of the Death Dance of Verges (Dansa de la Mort), declared a World Heritage by UNESCO.
