Barcelona’s Sagrada Família will be giving away 800 tickets in a raffle for its Easter concert set to take place on April 2 at 6 pm.

These concerts are part of the basilica’s wider Easter celebrations, also featuring other acts, a family palm frond workshop, and a Palm Sunday Mass.

The concert in question will include the Vallès Symphony Orchestra, with over 35 members, and the Granollers Chamber Choir, with a joint performance of Mozart’s Requiem Mass. It has been organized in collaboration with Samsung Electronics Iberia.

Anyobdy looking to participate in the raffle can register between now and up until March 24 at 10 am via the event’s website. The raffle draw will then commence immediately after.

However, the event can still be followed live on this link.

The family palm frond workshop will be open to children between the ages of 6 and 12, and will give participants the opportunity to have a special visit to the Passion Façade on the basilica’s west side, and playing a discovery game for the whole family to solve, before then taking part in a workshop to weave their own palm fronds.

This event must be booked in advance from March 21 by emailing taller@ext.sagradafamilia.org, and costs €6.50.

Sunday, April 10 will play host to The Palm Sunday Mass at 12 pm, in which Mons. Sergi Gordo, auxiliary Bishop of Barcelona, will officiate the Eucharist of the Sunday of the Passion of the Lord, immediately after the blessing of the palm frond, scheduled for 12:15 pm.

Mass attendees must have an invitation, which can be obtained at the Sagrada Família parish (Carrer de Sardenya 318, crypt entrance) from April 4 to 8, between 9 am to 1:30 pm and 5 to 8 pm. The invitations will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Otherwise, the mass can also be followed live.

The blessing, however, will be open to everyone and take place outside the basilica, in Plaça de Sagrada Família square, right outside the basilica. In future years it will be held inside the Temple, and will require tickets to attend.

An icon of Barcelona, the Sagrada Família is rich with symbolism and intricate designs that attract tourists from all over the world. That said, during its 139 years of construction, it is not without controversy. Press play below to listen to our podcast to learn more about the basilica’s storied past.
