From February 6 to 8 the annual light festival Llum BCN will take place in Barcelona. Over 30 different installations will be set up all over the city, with different sizes and locations, as well as many interactive pieces.

The artistic themes range from contemporary and performative art and design to architecture, set design, and digital arts, with the aim of showcasing the "infinite creative possibilities of light."

The festival will begin on Friday, February 6 at 7pm and conclude on Sunday, February 8 at midnight. The show will run each evening from 7pm to midnight on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Well known from previous years is the light installation at Torre Glòries, which fills the tower with different colors and shapes.

This is the fifteenth edition of the festival. What makes this edition special is the collaboration between 12 local and international artists, as well as the participation of 18 art schools.

The festival has also collaborated with the 2026 World Architecture Capital project, following Barcelona’s designation as the host city. Each of the 10 districts of the Catalan capital has an installation from this collaboration.

This year also features well-known names such as Catalan filmmaker Albert Serra, artist Laia Estruch, and designers Roland Mariacher and Werner Huber of STUDIO MO:YA.

Albert Serra brings his unique cinematic language to the facade of the DHUB at Santiago Pey square, with a piece created specifically for the unique facade.

Albert Serra is one of the most internationally prominent film directors today.

He has received the Special Jury Prize at Cannes for 'Liberté,' the Golden Shell at San Sebastián for Afternoons of Solitude, and the National Prize for Culture, among other awards.

The Tour de France Festival will also be present with the piece Aurelius on Tour by artist 'nueveojos,' a traveling light intervention with a cycling theme. This installation can be seen at Dolors Piera square in the Sant Martí district.

The lights festival, which has been very well received by the public in the latest editions, aims to promote sustainable mobility and accessibility via public transportation. For this reason, this year’s edition offers three itineraries for visiting the installations, grouped by areas near the various stops along the T4 tram line.

The festival also offers an app called 'Llum BCN 2026' with information on all participating light installations. Visitors will be able to listen to descriptive audio for the installations, create itineraries, view them on a 2D or 3D map, list the installations by distance or name, and receive alerts and notifications of updates.

The event has a budget of €950,000, and last year welcomed around 300,000 visitors over the three days.
