A new exhibit is at Barcelona’s Museum of Contemporary Art (MACBA). Called ‘In the Open or in Stealth – The Unruly Presence of an Intimate Future,’ it creates an artistic space for the museum-goer to reflect on what the future may bring.

The collection opens October 31 and runs until March 17, and it “will be a multi-layered site of discovery” exploring “the concept of a future in which multiple histories and geographies are placed in dialogue,” as the website explains.

Monica Narula is a cofounder of the curating entity of the exhibit, called Raqs Media Collective. “There isn’t only one future,” explained Narula, “but rather a multiplicity.” The cofounder of the platform suggested in fact that museum-goers should “pay attention to this multiplicity and think of which future we’re more interesting in pushing for, in taking with us.”

The work of some thirty artists will be featured, including Rosa Barba, Jeamin Cha, Hassan Khan, Joe Nishizawa, Cristina Lucas, Dillion marsh, and Santiago Ramon y Cajal. Raqs Media Collective was founded in 1992 by Jeebesh Bagchi, Monica Narula i Shuddhabrata Sengupta, its work focusing on creating art, producing performances, writing and curating exhibits – such as that in Macba.
