The Catalan government has confirmed the latest Covid-19 measures which will come into effect on Monday.

Capacities at industry trade shows as well as religious and civic ceremonies such as weddings and funerals will be increased to 70%, raised from 50%.

The cap on social gatherings will remain at ten people, however.

From next week, 'festa major' local festivities will be allowed to take place in cities and towns throughout Catalonia as long as they comply with the restrictions for each specific activity that is being carried out, such as concerts or other cultural events.

Other measures eased on Friday

A number of other Covid-19 restrictions have been eased on Friday. Bars, restaurants, cultural venues, and convenience stores can now remain open for an additional hour until 1 am.

Capacity limits have been raised to 70% for stores and gyms, and to 20% for cultural and sports events held in large venues with room for over 15,000 people as long as there are separate sections with under 3,000 people each and if steps are taken to prevent crowding at entrances and exits.

The 3,000-people limit for smaller outdoor venues is still in place.

Bars and restaurants located inside of sports arenas, cultural venues, and others are also allowed to reopen.

Groups of people can now eat or drink in public rest and picnic areas.

And although the use of face masks will be reviewed "in the coming weeks," they remain compulsory, with very few exceptions including outdoor exercise.
