New businesses grow 4.7% in September

The number of new businesses in Catalonia grew 4.7% from August to September, with a total of 843 new businesses around Catalonia. 146 companies closed this September, 12% more than in September of 2009.

Barcelona (ACN).- According to the Spanish Statistics Institute (INE), a total of 146 businesses closed this September, representing 12% more closures than in the same month of 2009.  On the other hand, the number of new businesses also rose by 4.7%, with 843 new businesses in the month of September. In addition, 406 businesses have seen an increase in capital. In the whole of Spain, new businesses have decreased by 2.5% compared to last September, with a total of 5,206 companies.


The number of new businesses in Catalonia grew by 4.7% in from August to September, going from 805 to 843 new businesses. Barcelona saw the largest number of new businesses, with 589 new businesses in September, followed by Girona (83), Tarragona (83) and Lleida (50).

A total of 146 companies closed in Catalonia this September, 12% more than in September of last year. 67 of them closed in Barcelona, followed by Girona (36), Tarragona (27) and Lleida (16).

In the whole of Spain, the creation of new businesses dropped by 2.5% since last September, but rose by 7.3% compared to last month.
