Catalan unemployment falls to under 393k

The end-of-year December figures are the best since 2007 and show a 25k decrease since 2017

Catalonia ended its 2018 with lower unemployment figures, totaling at 392,907, representing a decrease of 6% and of 25,111 compared to December 2017, according to data from the Spanish Labor Ministry.

The data is also significant in that it now tallies 66 consecutive months of inter-annual decrease.

Compared to November of 2018, the number of unemployment individuals fell by 1,498 people, a 0.38% decrease.

The December figures also make it the ninth consecutive month in which the number of those without employment in Catalonia has been below 400,000, as well as representing the lowest tally for the month since 2007 (which saw 265,789).

In the whole of Spain, the number of unemployed was counted at 3,202,297 people, which shows a decrease of 6,17% compared to December 2017.
