Catalan economy grew 2.8% in second quarter on 2024 figures
Slight increase of 0.6% compared to first three months of year

The Catalan economy grew by 2.8% during the second quarter of the year compared to 2024 figures, according to preliminary data released by the Catalan Statistics Institute (Idescat) on Thursday.
The figure is just 0.6 percentage points lower than the one registered during the first quarter of 2025 compared to the previous year, although it is the same data registered across Spain and higher than the EU's 1.5% growth.
The 2.8% increase has mainly been pushed by the services sector, which experienced a 3.1% growth, construction, which experienced a 2.3% growth, the industrial sector, which experienced a 1.4% increase, and the agricultural industry, which experienced a 7.5% growth.
There was a slight increase of 0.6% compared to the first quarter of 2025, just 0.1 percentage points lower than the one registered across Spain (0.7%).
Therefore, despite the Catalan economy growing by 2.8% between April and June, compared to 2024, it slowed down compared to the first three months of 2025.
During 2024, the Catalan economy grew by 3.6%, one percentage point higher than the 2.6% growth recorded in 2023.
