CaixaBank has integrated all Banca Cívica’s operational and technological systems

With the operation, the Barcelona-based bank, has more than 6,000 branches throughout Spain for the first time. CaixaBank, which tops the Spanish retail banking market, acquired Banca Cívica in August, which was the merger of five savings banks: Caja Navarra, Cajasol, Caja Guadalajara, Caja Canarias and Caja Burgos. From now on, all the branches, ATMs, IT systems, accounts and other financial products from all the five previous savings banks will be integrated into CaixaBank’s business. CaixaBank has adapted 1,170 ATMs from Banca Cívica, reaching a total number of 10,000 ATMs distributed throughout Spain.

Barcelona (ACN).- On Monday, CaixaBank, which tops the Spanish retail banking market and is based in Barcelona, announced the completion of the integration process of Banca Cívica’s business. With the operation, the Catalan bank has more than 6,000 branches for the first time distributed throughout Spain. CaixaBank acquired Banca Cívica in August, which was the resulting merger of five previous savings banks: Caja Navarra, Cajasol, Caja Guadalajara, Caja Canarias and Caja Burgos. The banking business of Banca Cívica has therefore been fully integrated 8 months after the acquisition. From now on, all the branches, ATMs, IT systems, accounts and other financial products from all the five previous savings banks will be integrated into CaixaBank’s business. For instance, the Barcelona-based bank has adapted 1,170 ATMs from Banca Cívica’s network in the last 8 months. Now CaixaBank has an ATM network of more than 10,000 machines distributed throughout Spain.


Last weekend, CaixaBank fully integrated Caja Burgos’ business, which completes the entire integration of all Banca Cívica’s business, according to a press release issued by the Catalan bank. The integration started on the 3rd of August, the day the merger of both financial entities was registered in the Spanish Company Register.

The integration process of the daily banking operations of all Banca Cívica clients represented the changeover of savings accounts, as well as the rest of the banking accounts and deposits. For the customer, the adaptation has not affected regular transfers and orders. Regarding loans and mortgages, the previously-agreed conditions are maintained in all cases.

In total, CaixaBank has adapted 1,170 ATMs. It has migrated 1,860,455 credit cards and it has issued 1,702,694 new cards. In addition, 2.5 million contracts have been integrated, as well as 32,489 shops and 32,000 new payment terminals have been set up.
