Barcelona was awarded for its management of the influx of tourists at the World Travel Market congress in London on Thursday.

The World Responsible Tourism Awards recognized the city of Barcelona not only for its work in managing and promoting tourism in a global way, but also for its work in the context of sustainable, responsible tourism.

The congress is one of the most recognized in its field, and was held between November 5 and 7. According to the organization, the Catalan capital’s experience “has the potential to educate, inspire, and give hope to other destinations, to respond to the tourism phenomenon and go further with it.”
