Transfer of jailed Catalan leaders to Madrid underway

The nine jailed pro-independence leaders left the prisons in Catalonia where they have been held in custody for the last seven months on Friday morning, and are expected to arrive in Madrid later in the afternoon. They will be tried for their role in the 2017 independence bid in Spain's Supreme Court, with the trial due to start on February 12.
