22-Feb-24: 'Dani Alves sentenced to 4.5 years in prison for rape'
Former FC Barcelona footballer Dani Alves has been found guilty of rape by Barcelona Court and sentenced to four and a half years in prison. Alves was convicted of sexually assaulting a woman in the bathroom of a nightclub in late 2022, and in addition to the prison sentence will also face five years of supervised release. Prosecutors had requested a 9 year prison sentence for Alves, meaning he’s been handed half that, and he will appeal the ruling.
