02-May-23: 'Water restrictions tightened as seven more areas fall under state of exceptionality for drought'
Catalan authorities have doubled the number of municipalities in a 'state of exceptionality' because of the drought to a total of 495. These will see further restrictions on the use of water. A fire in a train signal box in the coastal town of Gavà has severely interrupted service on the lines connecting Barcelona to cities to the south of the Catalan capital.
