Immersive ‘Antarctica Experience’ to premiere in Barcelona
Tickets are on sale now for exhibit by Oscar-winning director

The ‘Antarctica Experience,’ an immersive exhibit by Oscar-winning director Luc Jaquet, will premiere in Barcelona on July 31.

The experience will be held at the Cúpula Arenas mall, in the brand new Grand Immersive Gallery (GIGA) venue, which opens alongside Jaquet’s exhibit. Barcelona was chosen by GIGA for its culture and status as a key tourist destination in Europe.
The exhibit allows visitors to explore the ‘White Continent’ without the risks and discomforts of travel, allowing them to focus on the thrill and wonder of Antarctica. In a press release, GIGA promised to “connect the public with the most fascinating moments” experienced by explorers, as they journey through marine, terrestrial and underwater landscapes and encounter native wildlife.

Jaquet, director of the Oscar-winning documentary ‘March of the Penguins,’ and his production company, Icebreaker Studios, have partnered with GIGA to create an experience that changes how audiences can experience Antarctica. It utilizes never-before-seen footage captured by Jaquet and his team from years of expeditions, as well as “the most advanced immersive technology.”
Jaquet called the exhibit “half-travel dream, half-ode to nature” in a statement on GIGA’s website. Developed over two years, the exhibit is for all ages, with the goal of combining scientific education with emotion.
Tickets start at €17.90 and are available online.
