FC Barcelona and Espanyol are already preparing their return to action as La Liga has confirmed its return date and kickoff times for the next two rounds of fixtures.

Football in Spain is returning after the coronavirus outbreak on Thursday night, June 11, with a Seville derby.

Espanyol will be the first Catalan side to line out following the enforced break, as they play host to Basque outfit Deportivo Alavés on Saturday afternoon, June 13. FC Barcelona will travel to Mallorca to restart their season later on the same evening.

Following this, Espanyol will play at Getafe, while Barcelona will welcome Leganés to the Camp Nou in a midweek round of fixtures immediately following the first weekend’s action. Both of those games will be played on Tuesday, June 16.

In the second division, Girona travel to Las Palmas on Saturday, June 13, before playing host to Racing Santander three days later.

All to play for

When the season was interrupted due to the outbreak of Covid-19, both Catalan sides in Spain’s top flight of football were left with much of their seasons yet to be decided.

FC Barcelona hold a slender lead at the top of the table over Real Madrid, while Espanyol are bottom of the table, in the midst of a relegation battle that they are determined to fight their way out of.
