Barcelona (FCB).- Andreu Fontàs has been a key part of Luis Enrique’s Barça B defence and he made his debut for the first team on August 31st 2009, when he came on for the last few minutes against Sporting at the Nou Camp. He has continued to impress on his few appearances since then and the team have not conceded a single goal whenever he’s been on the pitch.

Five appearances

Following the Sporting game, the Catalan born Fontàs also figured in that season’s 5-0 Cup win over Cultural de Copa (5-0), when he played for half an hour.

It’s been the 2010/11 season though, that has seen the player become one of Guardiola’s most regular additions from the B team, starting three games: Ceuta-Barça in the Cup (0-2), Almeria-Barça in La Liga (0-8) and the 2-0 win over Rubin Kazin in the Champions League.

One assist and one goal

Fontàs, who has worn the number 5 shirt with Barça B this season and 26 with the first team, has impressed in his appearances this season, setting up Pedro for Barça’s fourth goal in Almeria with a majestic pass from deep and in the win over Rubin scoring the opener, deflected in off a defender, after good work from Thiago.

Fontàs has been at the Club since 2007 and was also part of the squad who toured the USA in 2009 and Asia in 2010.
