Camp Nou to host 2029 UEFA Champions League final

Renovated FC Barcelona stadium will stage European showpiece for first time since 1999

The Camp Nou will host the 2029 UEFA Champions League final, UEFA announced on Tuesday after its executive committee selected venues for various upcoming finals.

The bid was submitted jointly by FC Barcelona, Barcelona City Council and the Catalan government, with the backing of the Royal Spanish Football Federation.

Barcelona had been considered the favourite to secure the 2029 final, particularly given the redevelopment of the Camp Nou.

The stadium last hosted the Champions League final in 1999, when Manchester United came from behind in the closing moments to beat Bayern Munich 2-1.

Redevelopment work on the Camp Nou is expected to be completed by 2027, when it will have a capacity for 105,000 spectators.
