FC Barcelona Femení will try to break the world record for attendance at a women's football match – again.

Barça's women's team already broke the world record twice last year at Camp Nou: first in March, when 91,553 people went to the Clásico in the Champions League quarter-finals, and then again in April, when 91,648 fans turned out for the semi-final against Wolfsburg. The Catalan team also won both times, 5-2 against Real Madrid and a 5-1 victory over the German team.

The previous record had been 90,185 people at the 1999 Women’s World Cup Final in the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California, in which the United States beat China.

This time they hope to attract even more people to the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals against AS Roma on March 29 at Camp Nou, a stadium usually reserved for the men's team.

It will be Barça Femení's fifth time playing a Champions League match in the stadium that has a seating capacity of 99,354, proving women's football is becoming ever more popular.

Aside from the world attendance record-breaking games against Real Madrid and Wolfsburg, they also played against Bayern Munich in November – with 46,967 spectators, the most ever for a group stage match – and again in December against Rosengard, the second-best attendance figure for a group stage match.

Tickets for Barça-Roma, which begins at 6:45 pm, are already on sale and cost €13 to €31.
