The wildfire burning in La Pobla de Massaluca, southern Catalonia, has been brought under control.

Some forty crews battled the blaze which has burned around 75 hectares of land since Thursday afternoon.

Officials say the flames had the potential to burn through a total of 1,200 hectares - 450 of which in Catalonia and the rest in Aragon.

Firefighters will keep some ground and air teams in the area as a precaution, as extreme conditions causing a high risk of wildfires to persist.

The conditions have already forced authorities to suspend most leisure and agricultural in 279 municipalities for a period of five days this week.

On Thursday, the blaze forced the evacuation of one campsite and one crop field where some people were working.
