The Catalan government have suspended camping and limited leisure activity in forested areas for 5 days in 279 different municipalities due to the risk of fire

Additionally, agricultural activity with machinery will be restricted in the same areas for the same time period, with the exception of fruit collection.

The restrictions will be in force from 10 am to 8 pm.

On Wednesday, a heatwave is expected to arrive in Catalonia that will cause extreme conditions not seen for 18 years, heightening the risk of wildfires.

In the affected municipalities, transport in forested areas and work on non-essential power lines have also been suspended, as well as maintenance and works on infrastructures and roads except as indicated by transit authorities.

Access to natural spaces in these areas will be restricted, with exceptions for residents and necessary work. The measures will be in force 5 days from the publication of the resolution, scheduled for Wednesday evening.
