Authorities have confirmed a third case of coronavirus in Catalonia, a 22-year-old woman from Tenerife.

The woman arrived in Barcelona from Milan, having been in Italy between February 19 and 25.

She reported to Hospital Clínic in Barcelona, and is currently in isolation and suffering from mild symptoms.

Authorities are investigating who the woman has been in close contact with since she arrived in Catalonia.

Other cases

The two patients previously confirmed as being infected with coronavirus are doing well, a 36-year-old Italian woman living in Barcelona and a 22-year-old man from the Catalan capital.

There are 38 people in home isolation having been in contact with the first patient, and 14 more who were in contact with the second.

The three cases are not related, although in all three cases the patients had recently visited northern Italy.

15 cases have now been confirmed in Spain.

The Catalan health department has asked that people who suspect they could have the coronavirus call the emergency number 061 for more information, rather than travel to hospital.

The state health authorities have advised people not to travel to China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Iran, and four areas in northern Italy unless their trip is absolutely necessary.
