One person died early on Monday morning in a workplace accident in the Swedish IKEA company logistical hub in the southern Catalan city of Valls. The tragedy happened after an employee ran over the victim with a vehicle, as the Catalan News Agency (ACN) reported.

The victim had been hired by an outsource company to clean the facility. At the time of the accident, both workers were at the DC2 building, the logistical hub, IKEA’s second warehouse in the southern city.

Catalan Mossos d’Esquadra police have reported the victim was 40 years old and was run over by a reversing truck. However, the officers are still investigating the death.

At the scene, health emergency services tried to resuscitate the worker. Police later reported the accident to the Catalan Business ministry and to Valls’ court of justice, as protocol dictates.
